UP 410 for seven at end of second day's play

Cuttack,Nov 4 (UNI)A fine double century by Suresh Raina (203) helped visitors Uttar Pradesh to consolidate their position against host Orissa in their elite group match here at Barabati stadium.

By the end of the second day's play today the visitors were batting with 410 for loss of seven wickets. With three wickets in hand UP has already taken a lead of 194 runs. Orissa's first innings ended yesterday with only 216 on board.

The star studded UP is set for a massive victory as at the end of the day Piyush Chawala was batting at. Giving him company is R Mishra who has scored only one run facing 12 balls.

The day completely belonged to Raina who began his score from 27.

He reached his century after lunch which came in 135 balls with 14 hits to the fence. Raina then went on to hit his maiden double century in Ranji Trophy after the tea on the second day. The double ton for him came in 215 balls with 27 fours and 2 sixes. This was Raina's fourth century in Ranji matches. Other notable contributions for UP came from R Shukla (46) and M Aamir Khan (37).

For Orissa speedster Sukant Khatua took three wickets including that of Raina. Pritamjit Das accounted for two wickets while veteran Debashis Mohanty had to be satisfied with one wicket giving away 79 runs in 27 overs he bowled.
