Lucknow, Sep 13: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday (Sep 12) announced a cash reward of Rs one crore for Varun Bhati for winning a bronze medal in the Paralympic Games in Rio.

An official release issued here said the Chief Minister has congratulated Bhati on his achievement and announced a cash reward of Rs one crore.
"Through his hard work and dedication, Varun Bhati has put up a great show and achieved this feet earning honour for the country and the state," Yadav said, adding his achievement will prove to be an encouragement for the "divyangs".

Bharti, who hails from Jamalpur village in Greater Noida, won a bronze in the high jump event in the Paralympic Games on September 10.
