UP, Punjab and Sindh Bank into senris

Bhopal, Oct 5 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Sindh Bank today secured semi-final berths in the 13th National Sub-Junior Boys Hockey Championship underway at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) premises here.

Jharkhand was vanquished by Uttar Pradesh by 7-1. Hamir Khan of Uttar Pradesh fired 4 goals; Amit Prabhakar, F Khan and Abhinav scored one each. Jharkhand's sole goal came from Marcus Topno. The winners got five penalty corners and converted one, while Jharkhand got one but in vain.

The bankmen got the better of SAI 2-1 in a fast-paced encounter that witnessed Gagandeep Singh and Simranjeet Singh scoring one each for the bankmen. SAI's sole goal was made by Lalit Upadhyay.

The semi-final line-up for tomorrow is Uttar Pradesh versus Punjab and Sindh Bank, Namdhari 11 vs Madhya Pradesh State Men's Hockey Academy.

The event is under the aegis of the Indian Hockey Federation and state Sports and Youth Welfare Department.
