UP Red rains goal over Gujarat

Lucknow, Jan 24 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Red team loaded the Gujarat team with goals (27-0) in the 18th All India K D Singh Babu Sub-junior Invitation Hockey Tournament, that started here today.

For the hosts, skipper Sandeep Singh scored a maximum of 11 goals, followed by Oais Ahmed (7) and Paras Gupta (4), who dominated the proceedings with the word 'go' striking goal almost every minute in the first half, taking the huge lead of 18 goals without reply.

In the second half, they scored nine more goals making the final tally 27-0. With this, UP Red have entered the next round.

In the other matches of the league-cum-knockout basis tournament, Chhattisgarh defeated West Bengal by 2-1 and Hyderabad beat Nagaland with the same margin.
