Uphill task for Mohammedan against Churhill Brothers tomorrow
Margao, Mar 7 (UNI) Placed sixth in the league table, local league champions Churchill Brothers have a chance to snatch points with a home advantage when they lock horns with bottom-placed Mohammedan Sporting Club, Kolkata, in their eight round tie of the ONGC National Football League championship at Nehru Stadium, Fatorda tomorrow.
Both the teams have been inconsistent in their performance so far but Churchill Brothers, who had an edge over the rivals, will go all out for victory to improve their position.
Churchill presently have seven points from seven outings with one win, four draws and two defeats.
Mohammedan, on the other hand, will desperately need points to avoid slipping further than the precarious position they occupy right now.
As both the teams are eager to win, it is going to be an interesting match.
Churchill coach Karim said, George Ekeh and Vinu Jose, who were out in the last match against Dempo, will play tomorrow.
''Ours is an inexperienced team and no team can be taken lightly in the NFL. We played better in the last match against Dempo but lost. The boys know that we must be in win situation to push our team at the top. But if we play to our potential with midfielders combining well and forward delivering the goods, it will not be a difficult task for us,'' he said. He pinned his hopes on foreigners George Ekeh and Odafa Okolei.
''We respect Mohammedan Sporting, though the team is at the bottom, they will try to win to improve their position. Warun Deep, Bungo Singh and Chitrasen, who are in the National camp, will not be in the team tomorrow,'' the coach added.
Mohammedan coach said, ''Our main aim is to gain full points. We played better against Sporting club in the last match but settled for a draw.'' UNI SRN GB/PM PDS DS1520
