Uphill task for Vasco against Air india

By Staff

Margao, Nov 28 (UNI) Placed fifth in the league table, Air India have a fair chance of topping the chart when they take on bottom placed Vasco Sports club in the ONGC-I League Football championship at Nehru stadium Fatorda here tomorrow.

Air India, who have 16 points from 10 outings with 4 wins, 4 draws and 2 defeats would certainly be going all out for a victory to improve their points tally to catch up with the toppers.

Meanwhile, the not so impressive Vasco Sports Club, who had not registered a single win out of the ten outings, are at the bottom with two points from two draw matches against JCT and Mumbai FC and are desperately in need of points to avoid relegation.

Air India have a good attacking line up spearheaded by Surojit Roy, Michel Toyo and Subhash Singh along with Emanuel, Socour Velho and Samson Singh. With coach Bimal Ghosh the strike power of Air India looks formidable.

However, Mr Ghosh said his team is not fully fit for tomorrow's match and his main concern is goalkeeper Arup Debnath and defender Nepolian Singh, who sustained injuries, will not play tomorrow.

''But we will play our natural game keeping in mind full points as this win will help us to reach the second spot next to table toppers Sporting Club de Goa with 22 points.

Vasco will as usual will depend on Swizerland recruit Ravashan, Abhisek Yadav, Agnelo Colaco, Elvno Fernandes to deliver the goods.
