Usyk vs Fury 2 Result: Undefeated Ukranian Boxer Outscores Tyson Again to Retain World Heavyweight Title

By MyKhel Staff

Usyk vs Fury 2 Result: Ukraine's Olesandr Usyk extended his unbeaten streak and retained the WBA (Super), WBO and WBC world heavyweight titles after outpointing Britain's Tyson Fury on Saturday (December 21) at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Seven months after earning a split decision win over the Brit, 'The Cat' Usyk fought superbly throughout the contest and was awarded the fight 116-112 by all three judges in the rematch against 'The Gypsy King'.

Heading into the fight heavier than Usyk, Fury started at a high tempo and tried to control the centre of the ring using his jab, but the Ukrainian matched him and tried back his opponent up by ducking inside and unleashing combinations.

Usyk grew into the fight by the fourth round, but Fury targetted the body as it became a see-saw battle in the fifth. In the sixth, Usyk stung Fury with a clean hit to the nose and remained the aggressor in the seventh, tagging Fury with a hook to take control of the fight.

Fury regained control in the ninth, wielding his jab and one-two combinations, and the Brit made a good start in the 10th, but the Ukranian showed resilience, finishing the frame at a furious pace and coasted through the final two rounds to take a convincing victory.

With this win, Usyk stretched his unbeaten run to 23-0 across two divisions and cemented his place among the greats as the Ukranian handed Fury his second straight loss. The Brit was 35-0 before he met The Cat back in May 2024.

By beating Fury in May, "The Cat" had already joined the likes of Muhammad Ali, Joe Louis and Mike Tyson as undisputed heavyweight, and the first of the four-belt era. However, only the WBA, WBO and WBC belts were on the line this time after Usyk had relinquished his IBF title to focus on the rematch with Fury.

Usyk was called out in the ring by the current IBF title holder Daniel Dubois, who the Ukrainian had defeated with a ninth-round stoppage in controversial circumstances in August 2023.
