UTT 2026: Ultimate Table Tennis welcome New Team from Uttar Pradesh for Season 7

Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) has introduced UP Prometheans as a new franchise for Season 7, adding representation from Uttar Pradesh. The season is scheduled for July in Goa and includes an expanded group stage along with a revised format.

The team is owned by Mukesh Sharma, a first-generation entrepreneur and BITS Pilani graduate. UP Prometheans replaces the Chennai franchise, enhancing northern India's presence in the league.

Ekansh Gupta, CEO of UTT, stated: "UTT's expansion into Uttar Pradesh with UP Prometheans aligns with our goal of representing diverse regions. Uttar Pradesh, India's most populous state, offers significant potential for sports growth."

Sharma, founder chairperson of Prometheus School in Noida, supports high-performance sports through the Prometheus Sports Academy. This facility provides Olympic-standard infrastructure for table tennis, badminton, shooting, swimming, and golf, and has aided athletes like Olympian Archana Kamath.

The partnership supports UTT's focus on pathways from grassroots to elite levels. UP Prometheans will also participate in Dream UTT Juniors, a youth program by the Dream Sports Foundation and UTT.

Sharma commented: "UP Prometheans aims to elevate standards in UTT, reflecting our dedication to excellence in high-performance sports and India's Olympic goals."

Season 7 features seven teams in a single round-robin league phase, with each team playing every other once. This increases ties to 24 from 23 in prior seasons.

UTT continues to expand table tennis in India through regional outreach, player development, and partnerships. Matches will stream live on JioHotstar and air on Star Sports.
