For USA's two-time Olympic champion in women's discus throw, Valarie Allman, life is filled with passion, determination, and a heartwarming bond with her beloved Australian Shepherd.
The 29-year-old athlete, who has conquered the world of athletics with her powerful throws, also finds solace and joy in the simple companionship of her dog, whom she adores beyond measure.

"She's a great companion," Valarie said, speaking about her cherished pet. For Valarie, her dog is more than just a furry friend; she is a comforting presence amidst the whirlwind of a busy life. "Despite having a busy schedule, I take my pet dog out for a regular walk. It gives me immense pleasure to be with my pet dog when I'm mentally recovering from hard work on the field."
Valarie Allman, in Delhi as an international brand ambassador for the 2024 Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon, proudly displayed her two Olympic gold medals, won in back-to-back games. She beamed with pride as she shared, "This is my dream. I feel immense joy to show them." Her journey to Olympic glory has been one of resilience, highlighted by her personal best throw of 71.46m in San Diego, California, in 2022.
Always grounded and effortlessly stylish in her white sneakers and black jeans, Valarie spoke candidly about the challenges she's faced beyond the discus ring.
"There is no magic, but recovery was the most crucial part of my preparation to win back-to-back Olympic Games gold medals. The focus was to have body and mind in sync." Her path to Olympic triumph, especially for Paris 2024, was no easy feat. "It was incredibly difficult to maintain a high standard," she admitted. "There are so many factors that contribute to winning a medal on a given day at the Olympic Games."
Valarie's journey, however, hasn't been solely about her athletic achievements. Her relationship with her long-time coach, Zeb Sion, adds another layer to her story. "He is my rock! He has motivated me and kept me going from one step to another," she said, revealing the deep bond they share since high school.
For Valarie Allman, the road ahead is clear. She has her eyes set on the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where she hopes to win gold on home soil. "Winning a medal at the 2028 Los Angeles Games will be more important for me," she said. But until then, her sights are firmly set on the 2025 Tokyo World Championships, with her dog by her side every step of the way.
