By Staff

Jamshedpur, Dec 2 (UNI) An unbeaten ton of 113 by Jharkhand captain Manish Vardhan and a fine half century by wicket keeper-opener Subrato Ghosh (57) helped the home team put up 213 for one in their first innings in reply to Goa's 336 all out on the second day of the four-day Ranji trophy plate group B tie at the Keenan stadium here today.

Vardhan and Ghosh put a century opening partnership of 103 runs to consolidate the Jharkhand innings. Shadhab Jakati was the only successful bowler for Goa, claiming the wicket of Ghosh, whose innings was studded with eight boundaries facing 89 balls.

At the other end, Vardhan was going strong, hitting 15 fours (157 balls) in his unfinished knock along with Arun Vidyarthi, who played a sheet anchor role, scoring a patient unbeaten 38 in 116 balls with the help five hits to the fence.

Earlier, resuming at the overnight 251 for seven, the visitors managed to cross the 300-run mark, thanks to a well-compiled 45 by tail-ender Aditya Angle and his fifty-run last wicket stand with Harshad Gadekar (11 not out).

Jharkhand leg spinner Sujit Roy, who picked up five wickets yesterday, however, remained wicketless today and returned with 77 for five. Pacer S S Rao bagged two wickets for 67 while Kuldeep Sharma, Santosh Lal and Sunny Gupta got one wicket each.
