Vaughan to field for 20-30 overs v Australia - Fletcher

VILLA BEACH, St Vincent, Mar 8 (Reuters) England captain Michael Vaughan will field for 20 or 30 overs in tomorrow's final World Cup warm-up match with Australia, coach Duncan Fletcher said today.

Vaughan is improving his fitness after knee and hamstring injuries but only fielded for 10 overs in Monday's warm-up win over Bermuda.

England hope he can play a full part in their opening World Cup match against New Zealand in Group C on March 16.

''I think he is building up quite nicely,'' Fletcher told reporters. ''From a batting point of view he has batted as much as he could.'' Friday's 13-player format is also the last chance for Fletcher to look at all his seam bowling options, with two from Sajid Mahmood, Liam Plunkett, James Anderson and Jon Lewis set to play in the New Zealand game.

''The game is going to be pretty important but we have still got to use it as a practice,'' he said. ''We'd like to have a look at our bowlers. It is going to be a difficult decision who we will leave out.'' England beat world champions Australia 2-0 in February's tri-series finals and Fletcher said confidence was high.

''The side has got a good buzz about them. There has been a real intensity,'' he said.
