New Delhi, Sep 21: Procam International revealed that double Olympic gold medalist Ashton Eaton will serve as an International Event Ambassador at the forthcoming Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon 2023. Eaton is the only decathlete in history to cross the 9,000-point barrier twice.
Eaton claimed the Decathlon gold medals in the 2012 & 2016 Olympics and also claimed victories at the 2013 & 2015 World Championships, as well as earning a silver medal in the 2011 World Championships.

In Heptathlon too, Eaton made his mark. His world record 6,645 points achievement came in the 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships. He also boasts three gold medals in the same event (2012, 2014, 2016 World Indoor Championships).
In the 2012 London Olympics, Eaton set another world record in decathlon and held that position for six years until France's Kevin Mayer broke it. The IAAF named him Athlete of the Year in 2015.
Before his global acknowledgement, Eaton first made an impression as a college track-and-field athlete. He clinched five National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) championships - three in decathlon and two in heptathlon. The Bowerman Award was given to him in 2010 after winning the NCAA title and setting a world record score of 6,499 points in the indoor heptathlon.
Ashton Eaton expressed his enthusiasm to support the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon. He encouraged India's potential in athletics and urged the Indian population to get involved.
Eaton earned the distinction of being only the third Olympian (after Bob Mathias of the US and Great Britain's Daley Thompson) to secure successive Gold Medals in the decathlon before retiring in 2017.
Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Chairperson, Hindustan Zinc & Non-Executive Director, Vedanta Limited welcomes Eaton to the 2023 Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon. She expressed her belief that his achievements will inspire thousands to join in the marathon to aim for a hunger-free India.
Eaton is wedded to Brianne Theisen-Eaton of Canada, an Olympic Bronze Medalist in Heptathlon at the Rio Games. They together partake in philanthropic endeavors with Team World Vision through child sponsorship in Kenya.
Ashton Eaton's involvement in the marathon has thrilled Vivek Singh, Jt. MD, Procam International, who believes that Eaton's athletic feats and philanthropy will inspire the runners at the marathon.
The Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon 2023 is scheduled for 15th October 2023. The Open 10K race has reached its maximum number of participants. Other events, including the Half Marathon, Great Delhi Run, Senior Citizens' Run, and the Champions with Disability Run, are open for registration until midnight of 30 September 2023, or until the slots are filled.
