7,000 Runners, ₹3.5 Lakh Prize Pool: Zinc City Half Marathon Returns

Hindustan Zinc Limited (BSE: 500188 | NSE: HINDZINC), the world's largest integrated zinc producer, today unveiled the Zinc Finisher Medal and announced key details of the third edition of the Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon at a press conference held in Udaipur. With registrations already crossing 7,000 and continuing to rise, the AIMS-certified race is set to return on 6 September 2026, bringing together runners from across India and overseas in Zinc City - Udaipur.

Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon

Zinc Finisher Medal draws inspiration from Hindustan Zinc's mining legacy

During the press conference, Hindustan Zinc unveiled that the third edition will offer cash prizes worth over ₹3.5 lakhs across competitive race categories, alongside a specially designed finisher medal for participants completing the race.

Since its inception, the marathon's finisher medal has drawn from Udaipur's identity as Zinc City and the region's centuries-old zinc and mining legacy, making it a distinctive hallmark of the race. Continuing this tradition, the 2026 Zinc Finisher Medal takes inspiration from Hindustan Zinc's mines and smelters, celebrating the resilience and endurance of every runner while giving finishers a lasting piece of Zinc City to take home.

The marathon will feature three race categories - 21.097 km Half Marathon, 10 km Cool Run and 5 km Dream Run, bringing together professional and amateur runners, corporate teams, fitness communities, families and first-time participants.

Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon set for record participation

The third edition builds on the strong participation witnessed in the previous year, when the marathon drew 7,000 runners representing 27 Indian states and more than 6 countries. With registrations continuing in the final run-up to the 2026 edition, Hindustan Zinc expects participation to grow further as runners converge on Udaipur for race weekend.

Set against the backdrop of Udaipur's lakes, heritage landscape and the Aravalli ranges, the Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon has also developed a distinct proposition at the intersection of sport and destination tourism. Its course around the iconic Fateh Sagar Lake offers participants an opportunity to experience the city beyond the conventional tourist trail, bringing runners and their accompanying families into Udaipur during the race weekend and creating wider engagement with the city's hospitality and tourism ecosystem.

Amarendu Prakash highlights marathon's wider impact on Udaipur

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Amarendu Prakash, CEO, Hindustan Zinc, said, "The Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon has earned its place as India's Most Beautiful Marathon, bringing together Udaipur's spectacular landscape with the energy of thousands of runners. Beyond promoting fitness, we see the marathon creating wider value for the city by strengthening sports and wellness tourism, supporting the local hospitality and services ecosystem, and bringing greater national visibility to Udaipur as Zinc City."

Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon continues #RunForZeroHunger initiative

Beyond the competitive race, the marathon continues to support #RunForZeroHunger, connecting participation in sport with a wider social purpose.

The half marathon has also built engagement beyond Udaipur in the weeks leading up to race day. Promo runs and community activations across Hindustan Zinc's business units and cities including Udaipur, Jaipur and Uttarakhand have engaged more than 3,000 participants, bringing together employees, running communities and fitness enthusiasts while building momentum towards the main race.

Bib Expo scheduled for September 4 and 5

Ahead of the marathon, the Bib Expo will be held at Field Club, Udaipur (Zinc City), on 4 September from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM and 5 September from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, where registered participants will collect their race bibs and complete race-day formalities.

Organised by Hindustan Zinc in association with Anybody Can Run (ABCR), the Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon is part of the company's broader efforts to promote active lifestyles, grassroots sports and community participation. Hindustan Zinc also continues to support sporting development through initiatives including the Zinc Football Academy and community sports programmes.
