Vengsarkar, Pawar have 30 minute meeting

By Staff

Mumbai, Dec 15 (UNI) National Selection Committee Chairman Dilip Vengsarkar today met BCCI chief Sharad Pawar here to apprise him about his apprehensions regarding the seven point code for the selectors.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Vengsarkar said that the meeting went well and the BCCI President gave a patient hearing to all the issues raised by him.

Meanwhile, Mr Pawar told reporters that this was a routine meeting and he meets Vengsarkar nearly everyday.

On the issues over which chief selector Vengsarkar is cross with the Board, Mr Pawar said that tomorrow the Working Committee meeting is going to be held where all these issues will come up and a decision regarding them will be taken.

Vengsarkar had been up in arms after he was stopped from writing his column for newspapers, while he was the Chairman of the Selection Committee.

He had earlier told the BCCI that they should compensate him for for not writing his columns for the newspapers and that he stood to lose Rs 40 lakh a year as a result of this.

Things became worse during the second Test in Kolkata when he threatened to resign.

He was convinced by Mr Pawar not to do this on an assurance that the Board President would look into the issues raised by him and find an amicable solution to all the problems.
