By Staff

Seoul, Sep 30: Wimbledon champion Venus Williams overcame a string of double faults to beat Russia's Maria Kirilenko 6-3 1-6 6-4 in the final of the Korea Open today.

After taking the first set, Williams, her right calf heavily bandaged, lost her way in the second and was broken three times and double faulted five times.

The top-seeded Williams had 11 double faults in the match.

However, the American gained the upper hand in the third set by breaking world number 29 Kirilenko in the seventh game to go 4-3 up, before going on to claim the title.
