On the day of the Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony, the streets of Paris were electric with excitement and anticipation.
The unique decision to hold the ceremony along the Seine River, rather than in a traditional stadium, transformed the city into a grand spectacle. This historic event drew hundreds of thousands of spectators to the riverbanks, eager to witness the parade of athletes and the vibrant festivities.

Taking a stroll through the lanes of the French Capital, which were packed with people were four Indians who were soaking the glory of all these festivities. While not necessarily sports fanatics, the group just want to be a part of the grandeur and feel the 'vibes’.
'’We are here to get the vibes. It is a good opportunity to explore the city and see something so grand. We are lucky enough to witness this. Despite such rainy weather, the people are here, outside their houses to enjoy the ambience,’’ Akanksha told while speaking to MyKhel Correspondent Paridhi Bhanot in Paris.
'’We have not bought the tickets, neither we are here for any thing sporty, we are here to enjoy the vibes," added Aniket.
The weather was not that cooperative, with rain and cloudy weather but that did not stop the fans from enjoying the festive atmosphere. As the day progressed, the streets of Paris were filled with locals and tourists alike, all eager to partake in the celebrations.
People gathered on the bridges and along the quays, enjoying the various performances and the stunning backdrop of Paris's iconic landmarks such as Notre Dame, the Louvre, and the Eiffel Tower.
"However, we hope for PV Sindhu to bring in medal, gold medal. We will be looking for Neeraj Chopra too," said Saurabh Chaurasia. While Aniket remained hopeful for a gold medal in wrestling as well.
The atmosphere was further enlivened by the presence of 162 boats carrying delegations from various countries, creating a spectacular parade on the Seine.
This rather new and unique approach allowed a larger number of audience to experience the opening ceremony, with many areas accessible without an admission fee, making it a truly inclusive event.
