Rio de Janeiro, Aug 11: Armenian weightlifter Andranik Karapetyan twisted his left elbow in a horrific manner while contesting in the Men's 77 Kg weightlifting event.
The 20-year-old weightlifter suffered a horror injury in his second attempt in lifting a weight of 195 Kgs on wednesday (August 10).
Andranik is the reigning European champion at the moment but yesterday's incident came as a shock to him as well as the entire fraternity.
He screamed in pain as soon as he realised that his elbow got twisted. His joint popped out during the clean and jerk of his lift.
As he raised the weight to his shoulders, the incident happened. He immediately dropped the weight and left the stage immediately.
