Vidic asks Man U teammates to stop feeling sorry and rescue their season

London, Apr 5 (ANI): Centre-half Nemanja Vidic has asked his teammates to stop feeling sorry for themselves and rescue their season after two defeats in the space of five days have put Manchester United's title and Champions League hopes in serious jeopardy.

Vidic believes the team did not get rid of their hangover from the last-minute defeat in Munich on Tuesday in time to face title rivals Chelsea on Saturday.

The result was a poor performance and a defeat to hand the Premier League initiative to Carlo Ancelotti's side.

Vidic said: "We were down after the Bayern game but we cannot afford to be down again. We need to get our heads up and face the facts. We have lost two games but we shouldn't feel sorry for ourselves. We need to seize the moment and make sure we finish well this season."

United have now fallen two points behind Chelsea with five games left and Vidic says nothing less than maximum points from their remaining matches will do, The Sun reports.

He said: "We have five games to play and we need to win all five. It is not an easy job. I hope there will be more twists and turns. We hope there will be more dropped points for others. If we win all five games then I think we will have a good chance."

United blamed the lack of an offside decision on Didier Drogba's goal for their defeat.

United were second best and now they have to face Bayern Munich at Old Trafford on Wednesday needing to overturn a 2-1 deficit in their Champions League quarter-final, the paper reports. (ANI)
