Vigneshwaran to meet Rashein in AITA tourney finals

Bangalore, May 17 (UNI) In a major upset, second seed Sharan Patil of Karnataka was shown the door by eighth seed R Vigneshwaran of Tamil Nadu, though top seed Rashein Samuel of Karnataka cruised into the final of the Laabh Jewellers AITA under-16 ranking tennis tournament for Boys and Girls played at Sadashivanagar Club here today.

Rashein will meet Vigneshwaran in the finals tomorrow.

In the Girls section, top seed C Rajeshwari of Tamil Nadu ousted fourth seed Raveena Shetty of Karnataka to clash with A K Padmapriya in the final, who defeated sixth seed Sanjana M Kumar of Tamil Nadu.

Results: (Semifinals) Boys: S8 R Vigneshwaran (TN) bt S2 Sharan Patil (Kar) 6-2, 6-4; S1 Rashein Samuel (Kar) bt Rohit Srinath (Kr)6-3, 6-2.

Girls: S3 A K Padmapriya (Kar) bt S6 Sanjana M Kumar (TN) 2-6, 6-1, 6-4; S1 C Rajeshwari bt S4 Raveena Shetty (Kar) 6-1, 6-2.
