Vikram shocks Vineet in Punjab Ranking TT final

Chandigarh, Sep 17 (UNI) Vikram Aditya of Amritsar shocked top seed Vineet Chopra of State Bank of Patiala 10-12, 11-4, 11-6, 6-11, 11-8, 11-6 to claim the men's singles title in the First Emmar Punjab State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament here today.

Shally Dhawan of BSNL Punjab (Amritsar) beat teammate Mandakini to clinch the women's singles crown with a creditable 8-11, 12-10, 9-11, 11-6, 14-12 victory.

In the semi-final, Mandakini upset top seed Minakshi Sharma of Patiala, whereas Shally Dhawan stunned second seed Rajni Singla of Amritsar.

Commissioner, Information Commission, Government of Punjab P K Verma distributed the prizes. Mohali District Table Tennis Association president Tajveer Singh presented Table Tennis kits to Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sohana for promotion of TT among rural areas.
