Vikramjeet takes ONGC to the finals of Om Nath Sood Memorial Tourney

New Delhi, May 14 (UNI) ONGC entered the finals of the 17th All India Om Nath Sood Memorial Tournament defeating Mohammed Kaif led Indian Airlines by seven wickets at Guru Govind Singh College ground here today.

Batting first, Indian Airlines had a hard time facing medium pacer Vikramjeet Malik who took four wickets for just 35 runs and was adjudged Man-of-the-match for his fine bowling spell.

At one stage, Indian Airlines were 78/6, but a timely explosive knock of 70 runs in 69 bowls by Manvinder Bisla (three sixes, five fours) helped Indian Airlines reach a respectable score of 178 for the loss of seven wickets. He also shared a 98-run seventh wicket partnership with Ashok Singh who scored 35 runs with two sixes and three fours.

ONGC led by Mohammed Saif, younger brother of Mohammed Kaif, had the last laugh when they chased the target by losing only three wickets with 10 overs to spare.

The opening partnership of 73 runs by Gagan Khoda (62 runs, 1 six, 9 fours) and Radhey Shyam Gupta (27 runs, 5 fours) made their job easy.

ONGC will meet Haryana Colts in the final on May 16.
