Walcott's career as author of children's books kicks off

By Super Admin

London, Apr 30(ANI): England footballer Theo Walcott has kicked off his career as an author with the launch of the first in a series of children's books.

Walcott's foray into the world of literature, which goes on sale this week, is aimed at children aged from 9-11

The 128-page books, published by Random House and co-written with an author, closely mirror his own experience as a late bloomer in junior football, Sky News reports.

Random House had snapped up the 20-year-old in December last year after he penned two stories for fun about a hero schoolboy, who happens to be a football wonderkid.

Walcott had earlier confessed that the adventures of the schoolboy, TJ, mirror his own life.

"Many of my experiences as a young footballer will be relived by TJ in the stories. I'm really excited to be working on this series," The Sun quoted Walcott, as saying.

Walcott, whose school nickname was TJ and who scored more than 100 goals in one season for AFC Newbury, is hopeful that his books will prove to be rip-roaring yarns that also appeal to irls. (ANI)
