Warriors Must Stay Afloat Following Significant Home Loss Under Coach Steve Kerr

After suffering their worst home loss under coach Steve Kerr, Stephen Curry stresses the importance of staying competitive in upcoming games. With injuries affecting key players, the Warriors face a critical stretch that could define their season.

The Golden State Warriors are facing a challenging period after suffering their worst home defeat under coach Steve Kerr. The Boston Celtics defeated them 125-85, marking the largest home loss since Kerr took charge in 2014. This defeat was only surpassed by a 149-104 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on January 15, 1985. The Celtics maintained a lead of at least 10 points from the end of the first quarter.

Stephen Curry emphasised the importance of upcoming games at Chase Center, especially with six out of seven matches being played there. "It's incredibly significant for our season," Curry stated about this crucial stretch. He acknowledged that while the recent performance was disappointing, staying competitive until injured players return is vital. "It could make or break our season," he added.

Warriors Urged to Stay Afloat After Loss

The Warriors began the season strong with a 12-3 record but have since struggled, going 9-18. Injuries have been a significant factor, with Draymond Green and Jonathan Kuminga missing Monday's game against Boston. As they prepare for their next game against the Sacramento Kings, Curry knows these weeks are pivotal for their campaign.

Reflecting on past successes, Kevon Looney noted how distant their 2022 NBA Finals victory over the Celtics feels now. "It seems like an eternity ago," Looney remarked about their championship win. He acknowledged that each season presents new challenges and expressed hope to regain their championship form despite the current struggles.

Jayson Tatum led Boston's scoring with 22 points as six Celtics players reached double figures. The Warriors' recent form has been inconsistent, adding pressure to perform well in upcoming home games. Curry highlighted that while no one counts each game individually, a series of six to eight games can significantly influence their season trajectory.

The Warriors' ability to navigate this challenging phase will be crucial in determining their success this season. With key players sidelined and tough opponents ahead, maintaining competitiveness is essential for Golden State's aspirations to return to championship contention.
