We will play to win tomorrow: RP Singh
Chittagong, May 21 (UNI) Disappointed at letting Bangladesh off the hook, rookie pacer R P Singh said India will go for a win tomorrow in the first Test here.
Talking to the reporters after a successful day with the ball, R P Singh said, ''I have come back after while, so it was not easy for me. I have played in some domestic matches, Ranji Trophy and some other. But things fell in place for me today.'' ''Hopefully, we can make it till the last tomorrow,'' Singh added, having returned with figures of three for 45 from 17 overs.
Asked about the likely result of the match, he said, ''We will play for a win tomorrow.'' On how soon it can be achieved, he said, ''It all depends on how much run you score tomorrow. We have bowled well. But we have full confidence that we can win the match tomorrow.
We have no intentions to put ourselves under pressure and there is no special plans as such, go there and play your natural game.'' On whether he was happy with India's performance, he quipped, ''We are a bit disappointed that we let them (Bangladesh) go after reducing them to 149 for eight and let us see what will happen tomorrow. A lot is left in this match.'' On the possibility of rain playing spoilsport tomorrow, he said, ''Rain is not in our hands, but we have done things to the best of our abilities.'' Asked about the pitch, RP Singh said, ''The pitch was totally flat. But if you pitch it in the right areas and length you get a purchase.'' ''You need to bowl different length for different batsmen and things worked well for me today,'' he added.
Talking about how he kept himself going while being sidelined from the team, he said, ''When I was out of Indian team, coaches back in Lucknow gave me a lot of confidence and encouragement to stay positive. It has worked for me.'' R P singh, who was originally selected for the ODIs and went without playing a game as the third ODI was a washout, was retained for the Test squad as Sreesanth returned home with a calf muscle injury and was drafted into the side after Munaf Patel was ruled out with a back injury.
If lady luck helped him into the side, he seized the moment with some power-packed show today.
