Weather disturb National Games

Guwahati, Feb 7 (UNI) ULFA might have withdrawn the Games boycott call, but weather god is determined not to withdraw its overcast condition as heavy downpour caused a major dampener all over the Games facilities.

The met office sees some improvement from tomorrow but the sun will not come out in full strength for another two days forcing Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to seek divine intervention.

''Now I think we have to perform puja to improve the weather,'' he said jocularly amidst the Games officials, who are working round the clock for success of the Games.

Unseasonal heavy rains for past three days along with icy winds have created havoc in the preparation of the National Games even as the athletes are trickling in from throughout the country.

There are reports of water logging from almost all the venues with maximum damage to the boxing ring besides damage to temporary gates, which have been erected to welcome the athletes.

The rain is basically due to a depression and muddy conditions have prevailed in almost every sporting arena. The Games village is also no exception.
