By Meeth Agrawal

Neeraj Chopra, often hailed as India's 'Golden Boy,' secured a silver medal in the men's javelin throw at the Paris Olympics 2024. Chopra achieved a commendable throw of 89.45 meters in his second attempt, which ultimately placed him in second position.

The medal ceremony for Chopra is scheduled to take place on August 9, 2024, at 10:30 PM IST. This event will be a moment of celebration for Indian athletics as Chopra adds another Olympic medal to his name, following his gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Neeraj Chopra Medal Ceremony Paris Olympics

Who won the gold medal in the javelin throw at the Paris Olympics 2024?

In the javelin throw final, Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan stole the spotlight with an Olympic record throw of 92.97 meters. Nadeem's performance broke the previous Olympic record of 90.57 meters set by Andreas Thorkildsen of Norway at the Beijing 2008 Olympics.

After a foul throw in his initial attempt, Nadeem redeemed himself spectacularly, marking a personal and season best that secured him the gold medal. Grenada's Peters Anderson clinched the bronze with a throw of 88.54 meters, rounding out the podium.

Despite Neeraj Chopra's best efforts to surpass Nadeem, his second attempt remained his only valid throw of the day. Nadeem, who had already secured gold by the time of his final throw, ended with a distance of 91.79 meters, capping his performance on a high note.

This silver medal for Chopra not only highlights his remarkable consistency but also makes him the second Indian athlete after Norman Pritchard to win multiple Olympic medals in track and field. India's performance at the Paris Olympics 2024 now includes five medals, with Chopra's silver being the only non-bronze medal among them.

The medal ceremony will not only honour Chopra's achievements but also serve as a celebration of Indian athletics' continued excellence on the global stage. Fans eagerly anticipate Chopra's medal ceremony, where his outstanding achievements will be formally recognized and celebrated.
