White Sox invites Obama to visit new training facility in Arizona

By Super Admin

Chicago, Feb.17 (ANI): President Barack Obama will be in Phoenix this week, and has been given an invitation by the Phoenix White Sox, his favorite baseball team, to visit the team facility in Glendale, Arizona.

The new state-of-the art facility that is Camelback Ranch, according to vice-president of communications Scott Reifert, has left players in awe.

Since Obama burst on the national scene, the White Sox have been put into the spotlight by their most powerful fan.

According to The Chicago Sun, not only did general manager Ken Williams and Reifert attend Obama's inauguration, but they also offered him an invite to throw out the first pitch in this year's home-opener.

It was just last month that Reifert discussed the team's relationship with the President.

"Professionally, he's chosen the White Sox as his team," Reifert told the Sun-Times.

"That means a lot to us on a couple of fronts. Sox fans have a certain pride because we're perceived the second city, not by our fans, but on the outside. He chooses to wear his hat so proudly, and I think that's something fans appreciate. Whether you're Republican or Democrat, it doesn't matter. Sales of [Sox] hats have gone up 25 percent since the election. The White Sox hat has become a symbol of Obama. That's something we have to be excited about," he added. (ANI)
