The triumph is particularly significant for Indian women's golf. Aditi Ashok had won silver in the individual event at Hangzhou 2022, but India had never won a women's golf gold at the Asian Games before Pranavi's breakthrough. The Indian women's team also clinched the Silver medal, a team comprised of Pranavi, Diksha Dagar and Aditi Ashok.

Who is Pranavi Urs?

Born on April 15, 2003, in Mysuru, Karnataka, Pranavi Urs took up golf at the age of eight and developed her game at the Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Club. Encouraged by her parents, she quickly progressed through junior and amateur competitions before emerging as one of India's promising young golfers.

Pranavi made an early mark by winning titles on the Hero Women's Pro Golf Tour, including the second and third legs in 2020. She subsequently moved into international golf and competed on the Ladies European Tour (LET).

Her breakthrough on the LET came with strong performances, including a third-place finish at the 2024 Andalucia Costa Del Sol Open de España, matching her previous best LET result at the Helsingborg Open.

Pranavi also made headlines in 2025 when she became the first Indian woman to win a professional tournament while competing alongside men, triumphing at the IGPL Invitational Mumbai. She shot an extraordinary eight-under 60 in the final round to finish 14-under for the tournament.

Her Asian Games gold now represents the biggest achievement of her career and establishes Pranavi as one of the leading names in Indian golf.
