Praveen Chithravel is a talented Indian athlete specializing in the triple jump and is set to compete at the Paris Olympics 2024. Born in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, he is currently 23 years old and stands at a height of 5 feet 9 inches.
Praveen was born into a financially challenged family in the Thanjavur district. His father, Krishna, works as a daily wage farm laborer, while his mother, Prema, is a homemaker.

He has an elder sister and a younger brother. Demonstrating immense dedication, Praveen trained rigorously to enhance his skills, which ultimately led him to win the gold medal at the inaugural Khelo India School Games.
Praveen Chithravel's journey in athletics began in his teenage years, where he received support from his science teacher, who funded his participation in district-level triple jump tournaments. He met his mentor, Indira Suresh, in the 7th grade, who played a crucial role in his development as an athlete.
Praveen trains at the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS) in Karnataka, where he lives and trains full-time, visiting his hometown in Thiruvarur only once a year. He is a fitness enthusiast, regularly going to the gym and sharing his workouts on social media.
In his personal life, Praveen enjoys traveling, swimming, and photography. He has a fondness for seafood and spicy dishes but has learned to manage his diet as a professional athlete. He also dislikes cold weather and admires actor Kamal Haasan.
Praveen has achieved remarkable success in his athletic career. He won a bronze medal in the men's triple jump at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, making him the second Indian to earn an athletics medal at these games.
In the same year, he secured a gold medal in the Triple Jump at the Khelo India School Games in New Delhi and a silver medal at the Junior National Championships in Coimbatore.
After training under coach Antony Yaich at IIS, Praveen continued to excel, winning a bronze medal at the 2022 Asian Games with a jump of 16.68 meters and finishing fourth at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
In 2023, he set a National Record with a jump of 17.37 meters at the Prueba de Confrontación Meet in Cuba and clinched gold at the 2nd Indian Open Jumps Competition with a jump of 17.17 meters. He also won a silver medal at the Asian Indoor Championships and broke the national indoor record with a jump of 16.98 meters.
Praveen secured a quota for the Paris 2024 Olympics through his world rankings and draws inspiration from renowned athletes like Christian Taylor, Carl Lewis, and Neeraj Chopra.
