Williams's sisters set up semifinal clash in Bangalore Open

Bangalore, Mar 7 (UNI) As foreseen, the Williams sisters, Venus and Serena, today set up a semifinal clash winning their quarterfinal matches with great authority in the 600,000 Dollar WTA Bangalore Open here today.

The sisters dished out their customery power tennis against their Russian rivals with Venus ousting seventh seed vera Zvonareva 6-4, 6-3 in 89 minutes and her younger sister Serena trouncing in 58 minutes unseeded Anastasia Rodionova 6-1, 6-4.

Earlier, fourth seed Patty Schynder of Sweden also made it to the last four rallying back brilliantly to down Uzbek giant slayer Akgul Amanmuradova 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(1).

Venus set the tone for the match breaking Anastasia in the second game and another break in the sixth put her on the verge of the first set win at 5-1. Two aces in a row in the seventh game were too many for the Russian and she conceded the first set in just 23 minutes.

Anastasia tried her best to bounce back in the second set and managed to hold her first three serves. However, three unforced errors in a row in the seventh game left Serena with a 4-3 lead and from there the game went on serves with Serena emerging easy winner.
