WNBA: Caitlin Clark's Streak Of Made Three-Pointers Ends In Fever's Victory Over Atlanta Dream

In a closely contested game, the Indiana Fever triumphed over the Atlanta Dream 81-76, ending Caitlin Clark's impressive streak of made three-pointers. Natasha Howard led the Fever with 26 points.

Natasha Howard's impressive 26-point performance led the Indiana Fever to an 81-76 victory over the Atlanta Dream. This win came in front of a packed crowd, splitting their two-game series this week. Atlanta had previously secured a narrow 91-90 win against Indiana. Caitlin Clark struggled with her long-range shots, missing all five of her attempts, ending a streak of 140 games with at least one successful three-pointer.

Clark's last game without a successful three-pointer was on January 13, 2022, during her sophomore year at Iowa against Purdue. In this game, both Clark and Aliyah Boston faced foul trouble early in the third quarter. Clark ended the match with 11 points and six assists. Kelsey Mitchell's crucial three-pointer gave Indiana a lead of 76-75, followed by Clark assisting Boston for a layup that extended their advantage to 79-76.

Clark's Three-Pointer Streak Ends in Loss

The New York Liberty set a new WNBA regular-season record by making 19 three-pointers in their dominant 99-74 win over the Chicago Sky. Natasha Cloud led the charge with four successful three-pointers and contributed 18 points overall. Eight out of nine Liberty players who attempted a three-pointer succeeded at least once, achieving an impressive shooting percentage of 56% from beyond the arc.

The previous record for most three-pointers in a regular-season game was held by the Las Vegas Aces with 18. They also set a playoff record with 23 threes in 2022. Cloud not only excelled in scoring but also provided eight assists. Kennedy Burke added significant support off the bench with 17 points, making all four of her three-point attempts.

The Atlanta Dream moved their game to State Farm Arena, home to the NBA's Atlanta Hawks, due to its larger capacity compared to their usual venue, Gateway Center Arena. The arena was filled to its maximum capacity of 16,888 seats shortly before tipoff. Rhyne Howard led Atlanta's efforts with a team-high of 24 points.

New York Liberty showcased an overall shooting accuracy of 55% and were nearly perfect from the free-throw line, converting 16 out of 17 attempts. Chicago's Angel Reese had an off night, failing to score from any of her eight field goal attempts and finishing with just two points. This marked her first game without a basket since her college days in March Madness against Texas in 2021.

Sabrina Ionescu contributed significantly for New York with her scoring prowess alongside Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones who added depth to their offensive play. Meanwhile, Reese managed to grab an impressive total of twelve rebounds despite her struggles on offense.

This week's games highlighted both individual brilliance and team efforts across different venues and circumstances. The performances underscored how competitive and unpredictable basketball can be at this level.
