WNBA: New York Liberty Overcome Indiana Fever To Stay Unbeaten In Season

The New York Liberty triumphed over the Indiana Fever with a score of 90-88, maintaining their unbeaten status in the WNBA. Key players included Jonquel Jones and Sabrina Ionescu, who contributed significantly to the win.

The New York Liberty maintained their unbeaten streak by narrowly defeating the Indiana Fever 90-88 in an away game. Jonquel Jones led with 26 points and 12 rebounds, while Sabrina Ionescu added 23 points. Breanna Stewart and Natasha Cloud each contributed 16 points. The Liberty outperformed the Fever 22-12 in the final quarter to secure their third consecutive win.

Caitlin Clark, a key player for Indiana, was held to 18 points, 10 assists, and five rebounds. However, she struggled with her shooting accuracy, making only six of her 18 attempts and two of her 11 three-point shots. Clark also matched her career-high with 10 turnovers during the game. Her recent performance from beyond the arc has been less effective compared to earlier in the season.

Liberty Remain Unbeaten After Defeating Fever

With just under three seconds left on the clock and the score tied at 88, Ionescu was fouled and successfully made both free throws to give New York the lead. Natasha Cloud then secured the victory by stripping the ball from Clark during Indiana's final possession. The Fever's Aliyah Boston shone with a standout performance, scoring 27 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.

Meanwhile, the Atlanta Dream triumphed over the Dallas Wings with an impressive display in the middle quarters. They outscored Dallas by a significant margin of 51-32 during these periods, leading to an eventual 83-75 victory at home. This win brought Atlanta's record to two wins and two losses for the season.

Allisha Gray was instrumental for Atlanta, scoring 27 points alongside six assists and five rebounds. Brittney Griner also made a notable contribution with 15 points and eight rebounds. The Wings' Paige Bueckers, who was picked first overall in last month's WNBA Draft, managed to score 11 points while adding five assists and four rebounds.

Bueckers has been struggling with her shooting efficiency early in her career, hitting just four of her fifteen attempts against Atlanta. Her overall shooting percentage stands at 34% (17 of 50) so far this season.

The Liberty's victory over Indiana highlights their strong start to the season as they aim to defend their championship title effectively. Meanwhile, Atlanta's win against Dallas showcases their potential as they continue to build momentum this season.
