Shillong, Oct 4 (UNI) Constable Wansuk Myrthong has brought laurels to the Meghalaya police after bagging two gold medals and one silver medal in the 10th North East Zone Sports Climbing Competition, which concluded at Kangla Rock Wall at Manipur.

Ms Mythong was adjudged the Best Female climber yesterday after winning the leads final event and bouldering event and the silver medal for securing second position in the open speed climbing event.

The prestigious tournament was keenly fought with 84 participants from the entire North East.

''The achievement of Constable Myrthong is laudable due to the fact that most of the participants, especially in the senior categories, were professional climbers of international repute,'' Commandant of MLP First Francis Kharshiing said.

Myrthong, an Armed Branch Constable of First MLP Battalion, had not long ago brought repute to the state for her remarkable achievement in securing second position in the all-India 81st Basic Mountaineering Course and was selected for an expedition which is expected to scale Mount Everest shortly.
