For Khushi, Karnataka's rising talent in swimming, the journey so far has been all about sacrificing a relaxed and enjoyable lifestyle for success in her chosen path. Her life revolves around a strict diet, a disciplined and consistent schedule of practice, driven by the hunger to improve her skills. The results of her strong commitment have also been fruitful. Khushi was a revelation at last year's Senior National Championship held in Ranchi and was impressive at the South Asian Championship in Colombo, clinching six medals, including five gold and a silver. Khushi was also one of the star performers at this year's inaugural Khelo India School Games winning 200m and 400m freestyle gold and two silvers in the 4x100m relays.
Khushi was felicitated for her achievements with great pomp at her school in Bengaluru, wherein she received the 'Star Sports Believe' Honorary Plaque.
Khushi, while commenting on the accolade, said, "I personally see Khelo Indian School Games as an opportunity which has helped me improve as a sportsperson and something that will take me closer to the dream of representing India one day. It's an ideal platform for individuals like me who don't have access to expensive facilities to hone our skills. I am extremely grateful and thankful to Star Sports for bestowing this honor upon me and other young women achievers today."
The others who received the award included, Annie Jain, 6 medals for swimming, Purva Vijay Kirve, 3 medals in artistic gymnastics and the Manipuri girls weightlifting team, top team with five gold and one silver.
