Women's National Boxing Championships 2023, Day 2 Results: World Champion Saweety Boora (81kg) and Pooja Rani (75kg) were among the boxers to post win and reach pre-quarterfinals in Greater Noida on Saturday (December 23).
While Saweety overcame a formidable struggle from Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) fighter Alfiya to win 4-1, three-time Asian Champion Pooja dominated the match against Renu of Nagaland and won it by unanimous verdict (5-0).

Apart from Saweety and Pooja, the other boxers from Haryana to secure victories and advance to the Round of 16 were 2022 World Championships bronze medallist Manisha Moun (60kg) and Saneh (70kg).
In the meantime, Nupur of RSPB faced up against Delhi's Himanshi Antil in her 81+kg round-of-16 bout. Nupur quickly won the first round with a Referee Stopping the Contest (RSC) decision, showcasing her quick and aggressive boxing.
In the quarterfinals, Nupur will play Uttarakhand's Monica Sahun. The day also saw the dominance of the boxers from Uttar Pradesh, as four of them won their battles handily.
While Aarya Bartakke of Maharashtra and V Monisha of Tamil Nadu were defeated by Aprajita Mani (57 kg) and Rinky Sharma (63 kg), respectively, Rekha (66 kg) and Deepika (75 kg) won their respective RSC matches against Pooja Biswas of Telangana and Sunita Jena of Odisha.
The ongoing prestigious tournament, organised by the Boxing Federation of India, has been witnessing the participation of more than 300 boxers competing in 12 categories. The Women's National Boxing Championships 2023 finals will be played on Wednesday (December 27).
