World Athletics (Pics): Bolt 'thunders' gold, regains lost crown

Moscow, Aug 12: What was lost 2 years ago for a false start in the Daegu Worlds, has been regained by 26-year old 'Thunder' Bolt. Bolt clocked a season's best with 9.77 seconds in the World Athletics held in Moscow in the 100 meter feat in heavy rain at the Luzhniki Stadium.

He was followed by American Justin Gatlin winning silver with 9.85sec and Nesta Carter, also of Jamaica, taking bronze in 9.95 sec.

The face-off was a welcome relief for the US Athletics association, which was facing controversies after sprint rivals Tyson Gay and Asafa Powell tested positive for drugs.

An elated Bolt, however, was more happy to have regained his lost title in the Daegu Worlds where he was disqualified from the finals for a false start. "I am happy but I wanted to do better," said Bolt. "My legs were sore after the semi-finals, I don't know why, but the world record wasn't on so I came out just to win. Back in Jamaica, they do not expect less than that from me. They always expect me to dominate."

It was, indeed, a bounce-back victory for him after a four-year doping ban, proving his abilities in unfavourable climatic conditions.
