India's golden boy Neeraj Chopra will hope to land the country's first yellow metal at the World Athletics Championships 2023 on Sunday (August 27) when he competes in the final of the men's javelin throw event in Budapest.
The 25-year-old, who won a silver in the last edition, will look to upgrade the to gold. In Oregon 22, Chopra held the lead till the final round of throws, but Grenada's Anderson Peters clinched the gold in his final attempt.

Chopra, who won a gold in Tokyo Olympics 2020, sealed his spot in the Budapest 2023 final and the Paris Olympics 2024 event with his first attempt in the qualification stage, achieving a monster throw of 88.77m, which was his season best and the longest distance.
Now, the Indian gold medal hope will look to breach the 90-metre mark when he enters the Budapest 2023 final event. He was in good form heading into the World Athletics Championships, having won the two legs of Diamond League this year.
Apart from Chopra, DP Manu and Kishore Jena will also represent India in the javelin throw final with the duo achieving distance of 81.31m and 80.55m respectively to qualify for the medal contest as the sixth and ninth best throwers.
The Indian javelin throwers will face challenge from the likes of Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem and Czech Republic's Jakub Vadlejch, who also clinched final berth by surpassing the qualification mark of 83.00m.
