World Athletics Silver Meet 2026: Rohit Yadav, Abinaya Rajarajan Secure Top Performances - Full List of Winners, Prize Money
The World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meet, held on August 22, 2026, at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, marked India's first hosting of a Silver-level event.
India dominated, securing victories in nine of the 18 events and showcasing depth ahead of major competitions like the Asian Games.

The standout performance came from Rohit Yadav in the men's javelin throw. The 25-year-old unleashed a personal best of 87.68m on his final attempt, improving on his previous mark of 87.05m and ranking as the fourth-best throw globally this season (behind Rumesh Pathirage's 92.62m, Julian Weber's 90.40m, and Neeraj Chopra's 88.05m). Compatriot Yashvir Singh took silver with 82.94m, while Sri Lanka's Sumedha Ranasinghe earned bronze at 80.29m.
Murali Sreeshankar claimed the men's long jump title with 8.07m, narrowly edging South Africa's Divan Manuel (8.03m); David Solomon completed an Indian podium presence in third at 7.78m. In the women's long jump, national record holder Ancy Sojan led an Indian sweep with 6.71m, ahead of Shaili Singh (6.56m) and Mubassina Mohammed (6.31m).
Teenage sprinter Abinaya Rajarajan shone in the women's 100m, clocking 11.34s for gold and reclaiming the Indian U20 national record.

Vithya Ramraj won the women's 400m in 51.96s, with Indians taking the top three. Other Indian winners included Harmanjot Singh (men's 5000m, 14:11.51), Aadarsh Ram (men's high jump, 2.22m), and Pooja (women's 1500m).
International highlights featured South Africa's Tshepo Jason Tyantini winning the men's 100m in a career-best 10.11s, Nigeria's Chukwuebuka Enekwechi taking men's shot put with 20.78m, and Brazil's Andressa de Morais claiming women's discus (58.66m). Jyothi Yarraji secured bronze in the women's 100m hurdles (13.24s).
Rohit Yadav's javelin performance stands as the meet's signature moment for its global significance. Sreeshankar's long jump consistency and Abinaya's sprint record further underscored India's rising talent pool in a successfully staged Silver-level event.
