World Cup champs to receive 2.24 million dollar as prize money

Mumbai, Feb 28 (UNI) The winner of ICC Cricket World Cup' would get 2.24 million dollars as the prize money while the runners-up would take home one million dollars from the total pool of five million and one thousand dollars.

The losing semi finalists would get 450,000 dollars each, according to the International Cricket Council's Media and Communications manager, Brian Murgatroyd.

The prize money (in dollars) schedule is: Winners: 2.24 million.

Runners-up: One million.

Losing semi finalists: 450,000 each.

Placings: 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th - 200,000, 150,000, 100,000 and 50,000 respectively.

Winners of matches in Group stage: 10,000.
