World Cup teams observe minute's silence for Woolmer

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Mar 19 (Reuters) World Cup teams observed a one-minute silence today for Bob Woolmer, the Pakistan coach who died 24 hours earlier.

Flags at Sabina Park, Jamaica, and the Queen's Park Oval, Trinidad, were flown at half mast for the matches between West Indies and Zimbabwe and India versus Bermuda.

Woolmer, 58, was found unconscious in his hotel room in Jamaica yesterday and died later in hospital. A post mortem is being conducted.

His team had been knocked out of the World Cup the day before by Ireland in one of the biggest shocks in the 32-year history of the event.

Pakistan were not training today. Their captain Inzamam-ul-Haq announced late yesterday that he was quitting one-day international competition after the World Cup.

The seven-week World Cup culminates in the final in Barbados on April 28.
