Haryana wrestler Bajrang Punia has reported receiving death threats just two days after joining the India National Congress.
Bajrang Punia has lodged a formal complaint at Bahalgarh police station in Sonipat regarding the threats. Sonipat Police spokesperson ASI Ravindra confirmed that an investigation is underway following Bajrang's complaint about receiving threats from an unknown number on WhatsApp.

The threat was delivered via a WhatsApp message from an international number. The message warned Bajrang to leave Congress, stating, "This is our last message. Before the elections, we will show you what we are. Complain wherever you want, this is our first and last warning."
On 6th September, Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat joined Congress, with Vinesh receiving a ticket from Julana just eight hours later. Former WFI president Brijbhushan Sharan Singh commented on their political move, saying, "I had already said that both of them (Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat) are playing in the hands of Congress. Both are puppets of Congress."
Bajrang responded to Brijbhushan's remarks by challenging him to come to Haryana and campaign against Vinesh Phogat. He stated, "If you have courage, then Brijbhushan Singh should come to Haryana and show it. You are welcome here. Come here and campaign. The people here will decide how you will be welcomed."
After joining Congress, Bajrang expressed his dedication to working hard in politics as he did in wrestling and various movements. He mentioned that their aim was not solely political but also to stand against atrocities committed against daughters of the country.
Bajrang highlighted his commitment by saying, "We will work as hard here as we did in wrestling, the farmers' movement and our own movement." He also noted that some people celebrated Vinesh's Olympic misfortune, which he found deeply saddening.
The Congress party has appointed Bajrang Punia as the working chairman of All India Kisan Congress. On this new role, Bajrang stated his intention to support farmers facing crises and be a partner in their struggles.
He affirmed his commitment by saying, "I will try to stand shoulder to shoulder with the farmers facing the crisis and be a partner in their struggles and will work as a true soldier of the organization."
Bajrang's entry into politics has been marked by significant challenges and strong reactions from various quarters. His resolve remains firm as he navigates these new responsibilities while continuing to advocate for justice and support for those in need.
