Wrestler Sakshi Malik enters top-5 in United World Wrestling rankings

New Delhi, Sep 13: Woman wrestler Sakshi Malik, who won bronze medal at the Rio Olympic Games 2016, has entered the top-five in the latest UWW (United World Wrestling) rankings, rising to a career-best 4th position in women's 58kg category, as per the media reports.

She became the first Indian woman wrestler who wins an Olympic medal for the country.

Also, another female Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who made an exit in the quarterfinals after a knee injury during the Olympics, jumped 2 places to reach at the 11th position in the 48kg category, added the media reports.

Meanwhile, in men's freestyle category, Sandeep Tomar and Bajrang Punia were the only 2 Indians to make it to the top-20 list, the reports said.

Tomar, who bowed out of the Olympics after losing his bout in the initial round, is presently placed at the 15th position in the 57kg category, while Bajrang Punia is ranked 18th in the 61kg weight division.
