New Delhi, Nov 9: Dressed in a smart brown suit, world wrestling champ Sushil Kumar got engaged to daughter of his coach Satpal Singh at a private ring ceremony at the Hotel Shangri La on Monday, Nov 8.
The high-profile guest list of the Beijing Olympic bronze medallist's engagement included Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, former Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh, former Defence Minister George Fernandes, Samajwadi Party MP Brij Bhushan Singh, cricketer Kapil Dev, CWG gold medallist wrestlers Narsingh Yadav and Ravinder Kumar.
Savi, the eldest of Satpal's three children and an MBA graduate, was draped in an elegant green embroidered saree.
According to Sushil's close friend, S Kumar, Sushil will tie the knot on Feb 18. All the other rituals and formalities including Mehendi and sangeet will be completed on Feb 17.
"Everyone in both the families are excited about the match," Kumar is quoted as saying.
No further details on the venue of marriage or the time were revealed.
