Wright will be our first choice

Wellington, May 10 (UNI) New Zealand Cricket (NZC) Chief Executive Justin Vaughan today said former India coach John Wright will be the automatic choice for the national team if he was willing to return to the international arena.

''John is responsible for player development from under-17s to international level and is doing a great job with that. I guess it depends whether he wants to go back on the road again,''Vaughan was quoted as saying by local media.

Black Caps coach John Bracewell will steps down in April next year.

Vaughan said the rigours of international coaching were telling on Bracewell and so he was not interested in renewing his contract.

According to reports, Bracewell had indicated that he want to associate with the cash rich Indian Premier League (IPL) as a coach for any team in future.

Meanwhile, Canterbury's South African coach Dave Nosworthy and Auckland's Mark O'Donnell are other contenders for the prestigious job of coaching the Kiwis.
