WTT Contender Muscat 2026: Manush Shah, Diya Chitale advance to Mixed Doubles Final

India's Manush Shah and Diya Chitale have reached the final of the WTT Contender Muscat in the Mixed Doubles category on Friday (January 22).

A gritty performance in the semifinal ensured the pair's progression to the final of the tournament. Manush and Diya beat French pair Thibault Poret and Charlotte Lutz in a five-set battle to ensure their place for the championship clash.

Manush and Diya had a comfortable win in the quarterfinals earlier, where they saw off Pang Koen and Zeng Jian 3-1. But in the semis, the duo had to dig in and a resilient performance saw them securing a comeback victory.

After conceding the first two sets, it looke curtains for the Indian duo, but they rallied back in comprehensive fashion. A 10-12, 8-11 defeat overshadowed with a hat-trick of 11-8 wins as they have advanced to the final, which will take place on Friday (January 23), where the pair face China's Huang Youzheng and Shi Xunyao.

Women's Doubles

In the Women's Doubles, Ayhika Mukherjee and Yashaswini Ghorpade have kept India's hopes alive as they have reached the semifinal of the competition. They are set to face Chinese pair Qin Yuzuan and Zong Geman on Friday.

Men's Doubles

India have shown prowess in the doubles format so far as Manush Shah and Manav Thakkar will be up against Lin Shidong and Huang Youzheng in the semis. Manush recently won the WTT Feeder Event in Vadodara in the Singles category and will be aiming for doubles success in the capital of Oman.

Manika Batra, Manush lose in Singles

India suffered defeats in the singles section on Thursday, as multiple players had to exit despite promise. Manika Batra fell to top seed Shi Xunyao after a valiant fight. Despite getting two set wins, she fell 9-11 in the decider in the Round of 16. In the Men's singles, Manush Shah fell to Serbia's Darko Jorgic in straight sets in the Round of 16.
