Pascal Siakam Urges Indiana Pacers To Build On Recent Win Against Washington Wizards

After a significant victory over the Washington Wizards, Pascal Siakam stresses that the Indiana Pacers must not take wins for granted and focus on building positive habits.

The Indiana Pacers recently broke a three-game losing streak with a decisive 119-86 victory over the Washington Wizards. This win improved their season record to 3-16, marking a rare triumph for the team in what has been a challenging NBA season. Pascal Siakam played a pivotal role, contributing 24 points and 11 rebounds. Bennedict Mathurin also added 20 points, helping the Pacers secure their first NBA Cup win of the season.

This victory was significant as it was only the second win in 12 games for last year's Eastern Conference champions. Both wins occurred at home. Notably, it was the first time since December 2022 that they held an opponent to under 90 points. Alex Sarr led the Wizards with 24 points but received little support from his teammates.

Siakam Encourages Pacers After Recent Victory

Siakam expressed optimism about building on this success and recent positive performances. "I think our intensity is a little bit up. We gotta keep building on this," he stated. The team's defensive energy and effort have been commendable in recent games, according to Siakam.

Siakam emphasized the importance of developing good habits and not taking victories for granted. He remarked, "I thought our energy and our effort on defense have been good in these past three or four games. Gotta build good habits." He stressed that when teams are accustomed to winning, they might take it for granted, but it's crucial to appreciate each victory and understand the effort required to achieve it.

Looking ahead, the Pacers will face the Chicago Bulls next, who currently hold a balanced record of 9-9. This upcoming game presents another opportunity for Indiana to continue improving their performance and build momentum as they progress through the season.
