Youth National basketball from May 21
Lucknow, May 19 (UNI) The 24th Youth National Basketball championship for boys and girls, to be organised jointly by Uttar Pradesh Basketball Association (UPBA) and Research and Design Standard Organisation (RDSO), will start from May 21 to 28.
The National championship to be played at the courts of the (RDSO) will witness the action of 23 states teams of the country.
Briefing media persons here today, UPBA general secretary Bhupendra Shahi said it is the first time UPBA is organising the national event, which would be inaugrated by A K Rao, the General Manager RDSO.
The participating teams would be divided into 6 pools and the top 8 teams would be placed in pool 'A' and 'B' while the rest of the lower ranked teams would be put in the other pools, Mr Shahi added.
He said Assam and Mizoram would participate in boys category only while teams from Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Chandigarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jharkhand, Kerala, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Maharashtra, Orrisa, Pondicherry, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttaranchal, hosts Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal would participate in both the categories.
In the last edition of the championship, held at Jaipur, UP Boys secured the first place, while the state girls stood second, Chhattisgarh and Punjab teams were on first and second spots respectively.
