Zaheer replaces Uthappa in Mumbai Indians

By Super Admin

Mumbai, Jan 22: Sachin Tendulkar led Mumbai Indians, took left-arm pace Zaheer Khan in place of Karnataka Ranji Trophy captain Robin Uttappa. Zaheer played for Bangalore's Royal Challengers in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League in 2007.

Mumbai Indians spokesperson said, "It happened last night. We have traded Uthappa for Zaheer at no cost. We had earlier swapped our player Ashish Nehra with Delhi Daredevils batsman Shikhar Dhawan. We have thus maintained the balance of the team." Mumbai Indians is owned by Reliance Industries.

He added that these two are the only trade-offs that has taken place in the month-long IPL players' trading which close on Thursday, Jan 22. The move was on the cards with the Bangalore outfit showing keen interest in taking in flamboyant batsman Uthappa for in-form bowler Zaheer, who played a crucial role in Mumbai outclassing Uttar Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy final at Hyderabad recently.
