Zubin Registrar earns berth for Turf Club in pre-quarters

Pune, Dec 2 (UNI) Riding on former national ranking player Zubin Registrar's highest break of 65, reigning champions Royal Western India Turf Club ended the challenge of Temptation 3-0 to storm into the pre-quarter final round of the PYC-ATC Snooker Challenge 2006 here today.

The championship, being jointly organized by the PYC (Hindu) Gymkhana with ATC (Clearing&Shipping Pvt Ltd), at their plush Billiards&Snooker hall, saw Zubin all poised to cross the century break missed an easy pink, with 43 still on the board. This last league-stage victory nevertheless saw them finish on top from Group A' and will lock horns with Deccan Gymkhana A', second place finishers from Group C'.

The last two days' play, however, saw hosts PYC (Hindu) Gymkhana A' team glimmer in the reflected glory of their former world Billiard champion, Devendra Joshi, who saw them win back-to-back two matches apiece on Friday and Saturday to finish on top from Pool E' to waltz into the pre-quarters.

The other certain line-ups for the pre-quarter finals were Snooker 147 vs Nashikites, Zip Sports vs Poona Goan Institute A'.

Pradhikaran Youth Forum Group C', Spring Club, Mumbai, Group D' are among the top finishers.
