Lewis Hamilton has made his clearest public reference yet to his relationship with Kim Kardashian, appearing to credit the reality TV star and entrepreneur for his improved mood during his first full season with Ferrari.

The seven-time Formula 1 world champion has consistently kept his personal life out of the spotlight, but a light-hearted exchange during a fan event ahead of the British Grand Prix prompted a rare acknowledgement of the romance that has fuelled speculation for months.

Speaking during a fan Q&A at Silverstone, Hamilton was told he looked like "a much happier man this year" before being asked whether that was because of his Ferrari or his "new girlfriend."

The Ferrari driver initially praised his new team and reflected on the progress made since joining the Scuderia.

"Once you spend a year with this team, Ferrari is still the most iconic team of all-time. They've had a difficult period of time. It's such an amazing team, and they've been so welcoming."

Hamilton admitted the adjustment had not been easy but said the hard work was beginning to pay off.

"The first year was obviously very tough, but for us to finally see the hard work that we've all been putting in get us back to where we want to be..."

He then appeared to confirm the role Kardashian has played in his life, adding with a smile:

"And of course, of course, Kim."

The comments mark a noticeable change from Hamilton's previous stance on questions surrounding his personal life.

Earlier this year, when asked about his reported relationship with Kardashian during Super Bowl week, Hamilton declined to elaborate.

The Ferrari driver has long maintained that he prefers to keep his relationships away from the public eye, explaining in previous interviews that he deliberately prioritised his Formula 1 career over settling down.
